Chosen by Coach Joe

Victor Molinero

Victor has been a long-time member here and has been very deserving of member of the month for a while now. He always has a great attitude towards the WODs even though I’m sure he hates running. He engages coaches and members with kindness and humor. In true Victor fashion… when I told him he was selected as June member of the month he said “It’s about time Joe.” Victor has worked hard and improved in strength and endurance and even runs when the WOD calls for it. Victor has set a great example over the years for his family, he has worked out with his kids and has always encouraged his family members to come and work out at Armor. I’m very glad that he is a member here and he’s not allowed to ever leave. Congrats on a well-belated member of the month title!

Q&A

1) What was your motivation for joining Armor Athletics, and what’s your biggest motivation for continuing to show up?

Peer pressure, after years of my brother asking me to join, I finally went and tried a class. I joined after that first class. My biggest motivation is getting stronger and staying in shape.

2) What’s your favorite music to work out to?

I don’t necessarily have a preference but I do like rap.

3) What’s an accomplishment (Inside or outside the gym) you’re proud of?

Convincing my fiance to join the gym. It took over a year.

4) If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?

I would choose the power to heal because I would have been able to heal and save a lot of people that have passed these last few years.

Sara Sampson

Since Sara has been a member here I have always appreciated watching her move under/ around a barbell. She takes every opportunity to focus, improve, and refine her movements even though she’s already smooth and precise. As Sara mentioned, she is motivated to continue staying fit during her pregnancy. She has continued to work just as hard and applies modifications to the WODs so she can match the intended stimulus. I believe she sets a great example of how to do things the right way (especially during pregnancy) by moving well, listening to her body, scaling appropriately, and continuing her fitness journey for herself and the growing baby. Congrats Sara on being selected as June member of the month!

Q&A

1) What was your motivation for joining Armor Athletics, and what’s your biggest motivation for continuing to show up?

I had been lifting at home since the pandemic and really missed having a community to lift with! I chose Armor because I had competed in a few of the weightlifting meets hosted here and always wanted to try it out. Finding a gym that had solid programming for both CrossFit and olympic lifting was important to me. My biggest motivation to continue to show up is to stay fit throughout my pregnancy!

2) What’s your favorite music to work out to?

Mostly rap and hip hop but I’ll listen to some early 2000s emo pop punk if I’m feeling nostalgic.

3) What’s an accomplishment (Inside or outside the gym) you’re proud of?

Inside the gym, my biggest accomplishment was snatching bodyweight and not dying.

4) If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?

Being able to fly, hands down. Sounds like a fun and extremely convenient way of dodging traffic.
